CHHABI
SHANTI
DHAM
– A
HOME
FOR
THE
GUARDIANS
A
Serene
and
Idyllic
Abode
for
the
Elders
It
is
said
in
the
Vedas
that
devotion
to
elders
is
like
devotion
to
God.
As
parents,
the
elders
not
only
give
birth
to
their
children;
they
take
all
the
pain
for
their
best
possible
upkeep
and
education,
enabling
them
to
earn
a
decent
living.
Whatever
maybe
the
social
problem,
youngsters
must
realize
that
they
should
care
for
their
parents
and
the
other
elders
in
the
family.
However,
in
today's
world,
the
families
have
spread
out
far
and
wide
and
this
has
created
a
huge
void,
resulting
in
lack
of
the
required
supports
that
are
so
needed
for
a
peaceful
and
contented
life
of
the
elders.
At
the
same
time,
it
cannot
be
denied
that
in
many
cases
certain
social
and
family
circumstances
act
as a
barrier
against
the
families
living
together.
Taking
a
leaf
out
of
the
above-mentioned
widespread
situation,
Mrs.
Kumkum
Roy
Choudhury,
popularly
known
as
‘Chhoti
Didi’,
initiated
the
efforts
of
providing
succor
to
the
suffering
elderly
persons
through
an
ideal
abode
for
them
in
the
form
of
“Chhabi
Shanti
Dham
– A
Home
for
Guardians”,.
The
Dham,
established
in
the
year
2005
at
Jankipuram,
Lucknow
continues
to
strive
hard
for
providing
all
possible
supports
to
its
inhabitants.
The
satisfaction
she
and
her
team
of
like-minded
people
are
deriving
out
of
this
noble
and
humanitarian
service
has
motivated
them
to
do
more
by
increasing
the
capacity
of
the
Home
for
the
Guardians,
so
that
a
larger
number
of
suffering
elders
could
be
served.
Chhabi
Shanti
Dham-
A
Home
for
Guardians”
is
spread
on
5000
sq.
feet
of
area
amid
serene
surroundings,
away
from
the
hustle
&
bustle
of
normal
city
life.
The
Dham
has
been
equipped
with
almost
all
the
facilities
that
are
normally
required
by
the
persons
of
old
age.
The
well-maintained,
extremely
neat
and
clean
premise
provides
the
all
important
and
much-needed
stimulating
environment
to
its
inmates.
The
admirable
boarding
-
lodging
facilities
with
food
prepared
by
trained
cooks
as
per
the
particular
needs
are
further
facilitated
by
personalized
care
for
all
the
inhabitant
elders
in
the
fully
air-conditioned
idyllic
abode.
Other
than
the
periodic
medical
check-ups
by a
panel
of
doctors,
the
medical
care
is
always
there
at
the
disposal
of
the
residents
through
the
Dham’s
prompt
and
round
the
clock
assistance
and
information
facility.
Excellent
housekeeping,
attention
and
unmatched
service
by
attendants
and
caretakers
ensure
that
the
respected
senior
citizens
feel
comfortable
and
totally
at
home.
The
available
facilities
for
meditation,
yoga
and
other
suitable
physical
exercises,
a
common
hall
having
suitable
recreational
facilities,
such
as
TV,
Newspapers,
Magazines
and
Games,
besides
a
common
Prayer
Room
for
the
followers
of
diverse
faiths
and
a
rich
Library
make
“Chhabi
Shanti
Dham”
an
excellent
choice
for
the
self
respecting
elders.
A
wing
is
proposed
to
be
added
later
on
for
orphan
children,
in
order
to
create
a
family
like
atmosphere
at
the
Dham.
The
process
has
already
started
and
Mrs.
Kumkum
Roy
Choudhury
has
already
adopted
the
first
child
for
the
Dham,
an
orphan
girl
child.
The
little
child’s
exuberance
so
palpably
and
refreshingly
reverberates
in
the
‘modern’
old
age
home
premises.
Mrs.
Kumkum
Roy
Choudhury,
with
the
kind
help
of
some
good
Samaritans
of
the
society,
runs
the
immensely
useful
social
project
without
any
Governmental
or
Non
Governmental
Agency’s
help.
It
is
only
her
empathy
for
the
infirm
that
if
she
is
at
Lucknow,
she
makes
it a
point
to
visit
“Chhabi
Shanti
Dham”
for
ensuring
all
the
cares
to
the
elders,
in
spite
of
her
understandably
hectic
schedule.
In a
way,
the
epitome
of
compassion-
everyone’s
‘Chhoti
Didi’
is
effectively
entitled
to
earn
the
sobriquet
“Guardian
of
the
Guardians
of
the
Society”! |
